Golf Carts in Tega Cay, SC: Ride to Dinner, Day or Night
Tega Cay calls itself a golf cart town for good reason: carts are welcome on its trails and, with the right equipment, after dark. Tega Cay is a golf cart city. It sits on a Lake Wylie peninsula, and carts are a normal way to get to the pool, the marina and a friend’s house. Queen City Carts makes it easy: honest answers, friendly people, and a shop close enough that a test drive or a service visit does not eat up your whole day. It is our pleasure to help.

Golf cart to dinner in Tega Cay
Tega Cay is one of the few places in South Carolina where you can take your golf cart to dinner and ride home after dark. Neighbors roll up to The Garrison at 15083 Molokai Drive, overlooking the Tega Cay Golf Course, for dinner, the sports bar or happy hour (The Garrison), or head to Maisie’s Green Brae at 2150 Gold Hill Road (Maisie’s Green Brae). Add sunsets at Catawba Park and a ride home on a cool evening, and you can see why Tega Cay is a golf cart city.
Night driving rules under Ordinance 602
Tega Cay became the first city in South Carolina to allow golf carts at night. Under Ordinance 602, a golf cart with an SCDMV permit decal and registration, liability insurance and a licensed driver 16 or older may run day or night inside city limits on streets posted 35 mph or less and on the city’s multiuse trails. Headlights and taillights must be on from dusk to dawn. Carry your registration, proof of insurance and license (City of Tega Cay Ord. 602; WCNC). Need lights added? We install headlight and taillight kits, and a lithium golf cart battery conversion gives you range for dinner and the long way home. Call (704) 302-1200.

The city celebrates over three days, with a boat parade from Nivens Creek to Windjammer Park and a water ski show, the Uncle Sam Jam at Runde Park, a land parade from City Hall, the Lions Club fish fry at the Glennon Center, and fireworks over the Tega Cay Golf Club.
In the fall, Catawba Fest fills Catawba Park by the Catawba Dam, and a recent festival even featured a golf cart show, with Tega Cay police on hand to explain the latest South Carolina cart laws. Any evening, a permitted cart is a fun way to head to dinner at The Garrison or the golf club, or down to Windjammer for a sunset on Lake Wylie.
