About Sun City Carolina Lakes
Del Webb built Sun City Carolina Lakes from 2005 to 2016, and it has 3,160 homes, two community centers, about a dozen lakes, miles of walking trails and a public 18-hole golf course. Several floor plans even include extra garage space for golf cart storage (55places, Sun City Carolina Lakes). The rest of Indian Land, including the EdgeWater community, is a short ride up US 521.
We sell and service golf carts for people who drive these streets and paths every day, so we can help you pick a cart that fits your community, your passengers and the way you actually use it.
Life on a golf cart in Sun City Carolina Lakes
Every June, Summerfest brings out the Golf Cart, Classic Car and Car Parade, now past its 25th year. The 3.1 mile route starts at Prairie Lodge, runs down Del Webb Boulevard to Cold Springs Drive and loops back, and the best decorated golf carts take home prizes. In the fall, the Softball Club hosts its Golf Cart Rally, with game stops around the community and dinner at the Lodge to finish.
Day to day, the cart takes you to the 18 hole Carolina Lakes Golf Club and The Tavern, to concerts and dances in the Lodge ballroom, and to more than 140 resident clubs. There are over 30 miles of walking paths, 11 lakes for fishing, Har-Tru tennis, pickleball, bocce, disc golf and kayak storage near the Catawba River.
With 5,000 plus neighbors and so much going on, a dependable golf cart with a strong battery is the most used vehicle in a lot of Sun City garages.

Golf cart rules and street-legal LSVs in Indian Land
South Carolina’s default golf cart rules apply here: the cart needs an SCDMV permit decal and registration, proof of liability insurance, and a driver 16 or older with a valid license. Without a local ordinance, a permitted golf cart can run in daylight only, on secondary roads posted 35 mph or less, within four miles of the address on its registration (or of the gate of a gated community), and can cross faster roads only at intersections. Kids under 12 must be buckled in on public roads. A registered low speed vehicle (LSV) that meets federal standards can run on roads posted 35 mph or less, day or night. We have not found a Lancaster County ordinance that changes the state rules for Indian Land, and community rules can add their own limits, so check with the Sun City Carolina Lakes association too. (Sources: SC Code 56-2-105, SCDMV.)
Our street-legal LSV conversion page walks through the equipment, paperwork and steps in plain English.
Lithium battery conversions
Tired of watering batteries or running low halfway through the day? A lithium golf cart battery conversion cuts weight, charges faster and gives you more range. Many Sun City Carolina Lakes owners make the switch on the golf cart they already love.
