Golf cart rules and street-legal LSVs in Mountain Island Lake
In North Carolina, a golf cart can only go on public streets two ways: as a titled, registered and insured low speed vehicle (LSV) on roads posted 35 mph or less, or under a local golf cart ordinance where the town or county has adopted one. Stonewater is in Mount Holly, where registered, insured carts with a licensed driver can use certified golf cart streets only, at no more than 20 mph (Mount Holly code). Overlook and Mt Isle Harbor are in Charlotte. We have not found a Charlotte golf cart permit program, so on some public streets there a titled, registered and insured LSV may be required, and we will help you figure out which you need. Your HOA may have its own rules too.
Our street-legal LSV conversion page walks through the equipment, paperwork and steps in plain English.
Lithium battery conversions
Tired of watering batteries or running low halfway through the day? A lithium golf cart battery conversion cuts weight, charges faster and gives you more range. Many Mountain Island Lake owners make the switch on the golf cart they already love.
