Denver NC Christmas Parade 2026: A Golf Cart Guide
The Denver Christmas Parade rolls down Business Hwy 16 on Saturday, December 5, 2026 at 12:30 PM, rain or shine, and the town gathers again Sunday, December 6 from 4:45 to 6:45 PM for the Tree Lighting at Lake Norman Lutheran Church, 1445 N NC 16 Business Hwy. This year’s theme is “Santa’s Secret Workshop of Denver” (Lake Norman Publications). Queen City Carts rolled golf carts in this parade last year, and our Denver store is right here in town. It is our pleasure to help you get ready.

Want to be in the parade?
The East Lincoln Betterment Association (ELBA) runs the parade with the Denver/Lake Norman Rotary. Entries apply online, and acceptance is emailed after review (parade application). The submission date posted for 2026 is November 21, 2026 (Denver Christmas Parade). The rules ask for family friendly entries, no Santa costumes (the real one is coming) and no throwing candy. Businesses can also sponsor through DenverChristmasParade.com.
Getting there and parking
Thousands of people line Hwy 16 for the parade, so come early and plan to walk a bit. Watch the parade site and ELBA’s social pages for the route, closures and parking for 2026.
Golf cart rules in Denver
In North Carolina, a golf cart can only go on public streets two ways: as a titled, registered and insured low speed vehicle (LSV) on roads posted 35 mph or less, or under a local golf cart ordinance where the town or county has adopted one (NCDOT model ordinance). Denver is in unincorporated Lincoln County, so check local rules before driving on public roads. A titled, registered and insured LSV on roads posted 35 mph or less is the street-legal option. Riding in the parade itself happens under the parade’s own rules, so follow the organizers’ instructions. Our street-legal LSV conversion page explains the steps.
Golf cart decorating tips
- Use battery powered LED string lights or lights rated for your cart’s 12 volt accessory power, and zip tie them to the roof frame, not the steering column.
- Keep the driver’s view, mirrors, pedals and lights clear, and check that nothing hangs low enough to catch a wheel.
- Wreaths on the front cowl, garland along the roof and a lit sign on the back seat read great from the curb.
- Charge fully the night before. Lights, music and slow parade speeds drain lead acid batteries fast, which is one more reason owners move to a lithium golf cart battery conversion.
- Follow the parade rules on throwing candy. Most parades here ban it, so hand it out at the curb instead.
