Belmont NC Christmas Parade 2026 and Holidays at the Garden
Belmont does Christmas right. The tree lights up at Old City Hall on Monday, November 30, and the Belmont Christmas Parade steps off Tuesday, December 1, 2026 at 3 PM on S. Main Street and along Catawba Street, with floats, vintage cars, school bands and Santa (Downtown Belmont; Go Gaston). Then Holidays at the Garden at Daniel Stowe Conservancy, 6500 S New Hope Rd, glows with millions of lights from November 28 to December 28 (Historic Belmont).

Golf cart rules in Belmont
Belmont lets registered golf carts use most city streets with an annual Belmont Police permit, proof of insurance and an inspection ($25 permit, $5 decal). Streets must be posted 35 mph or less, carts top out at 20 mph, and riding is sunrise to sunset. Carts may cross but not drive on Wilkinson Blvd, Central Avenue, Park Street/Keener Blvd/NC 273, South Point Road and parts of Main Street (City of Belmont). A 3 PM parade works great by cart. For the Garden lights after dark, or South New Hope Road, plan on a car or a street-legal LSV on roads posted 35 mph or less.
Golf cart decorating tips
- Use battery powered LED string lights or lights rated for your cart’s 12 volt accessory power, and zip tie them to the roof frame, not the steering column.
- Keep the driver’s view, mirrors, pedals and lights clear, and check that nothing hangs low enough to catch a wheel.
- Wreaths on the front cowl, garland along the roof and a lit sign on the back seat read great from the curb.
- Charge fully the night before. Lights, music and slow parade speeds drain lead acid batteries fast, which is one more reason owners move to a lithium golf cart battery conversion.
- Follow the parade rules on throwing candy. Most parades here ban it, so hand it out at the curb instead.
