How to enter
Private individuals and golf carts enter for $20 with no commercial messages. Businesses are $40, and nonprofits and church groups are $20. Registration closes Wednesday, November 18, 2026 at 11:59 PM, no exceptions. You can also register and pay in person at the Lentz Recreation Center, 800 Madison St. Questions go to Kara Smith at 704-735-2671 or kara.smith@lincolntonnc.org. Watch your email over Thanksgiving weekend for lineup instructions.
A decade theme idea for your golf cart
Pick a decade and go all in: a 1950s cart with tinsel and a retro tree, a neon 1980s cart, or a space age Christmas of the future with blue LEDs. Every entry needs a Christmas theme to be judged.
Golf cart decorating tips
- Use battery powered LED string lights or lights rated for your cart’s 12 volt accessory power, and zip tie them to the roof frame, not the steering column.
- Keep the driver’s view, mirrors, pedals and lights clear, and check that nothing hangs low enough to catch a wheel.
- Wreaths on the front cowl, garland along the roof and a lit sign on the back seat read great from the curb.
- Charge fully the night before. Lights, music and slow parade speeds drain lead acid batteries fast, which is one more reason owners move to a lithium golf cart battery conversion.
- Follow the parade rules on throwing candy. Most parades here ban it, so hand it out at the curb instead.
Golf cart rules for getting there
In North Carolina, a golf cart can only go on public streets two ways: as a titled, registered and insured low speed vehicle (LSV) on roads posted 35 mph or less, or under a local golf cart ordinance where the town or county has adopted one (NCDOT model ordinance). If you plan to drive to the lineup on public roads, a titled, registered and insured LSV is the legal way on roads posted 35 mph or less. Otherwise trailer it in. The parade rules require every entry to meet the city’s safety, insurance and vehicle requirements.
