How Golf Cart Financing Works (and How to See Your Payment in 2 Minutes)

Custom red Epic street-legal golf cart with bronze wheels

A street-legal cart is a big purchase, and it’s completely normal to want to know the monthly payment before you fall in love with one. We’re happy to walk you through it. This guide explains how golf cart financing works, what shapes your rate and payment, and how to see your own numbers in about two minutes without affecting your credit score.

The basics: what you’re financing

When you finance a cart, the amount you borrow usually includes:

  • the price of the cart
  • any accessories or upgrades you add
  • sales tax
  • title and tag costs for a street-legal LSV
  • the program fee

Your down payment and any trade-in value come off the top. What’s left is the amount financed, and that’s what your monthly payment is built on.

What shapes your payment

1. Your down payment

The more you put down, the less you borrow, and the lower your payment. Our payment examples are based on $1,500 down, OAC (on approved credit). That’s a comfortable starting point for many buyers, and you’re welcome to put down more or less.

2. The term

The term is how many months you take to pay. A longer term usually means a smaller monthly payment but more total interest over the life of the loan. A shorter term means a higher payment but less interest overall. We’ll gladly show you a few options side by side.

3. Your credit

Lenders set your rate based on your credit history and the details of the loan. Stronger credit usually earns a lower APR. Every offer is on approved credit, so the rate you see after applying is what counts.

4. New vs. used

Lenders often treat new and used carts differently. Newer carts may qualify for longer terms or better rates, while older carts may have shorter maximum terms. We’ll show you what’s available for the specific cart you like.

5. Your trade-in

A trade-in works like extra down payment. If you still owe on your current cart, we’ll factor the payoff into the deal. Learn more on our trade-in page.

A simple payment example

Here’s how the pieces fit together. Say you pick a street-legal cart and add tax, tag costs and the program fee. You put $1,500 down. The lender reviews your credit and offers a rate and term. Your payment is the remaining balance spread over that term at that rate.

On our inventory pages, you’ll see an estimated payment on each cart, shown as “Based on $1,500 down, X mo at Y% APR, OAC.” Those are estimates to help you shop. Your actual rate, term and payment are set when you apply.

Soft pull vs. hard pull: protecting your score

A soft credit pull lets a lender preview your credit to give you an estimate. It does not affect your credit score. A hard credit pull happens when you formally apply for a loan, and it can show up on your credit report.

Our Get My Payment tool starts with a soft pull, so you can see real numbers without any impact on your score. If you like what you see, you can move forward when you’re ready.

How to see your payment in about two minutes

  1. Pick a cart (or a price range). Browse our street-legal inventory and note the one you like.
  2. Open the payment tool. Head to /get-my-payment/.
  3. Enter a few details. Basic contact information and a little about the cart you want.
  4. See your options. Review your estimated payment and choose your next step.

That’s it. Our team will follow up to answer questions and help you lock things in.

Ways to lower your payment

  • Put more down. Every extra dollar down reduces what you borrow.
  • Trade in, sell or consign. Your current cart can help. Trade it in, sell it to us or consign it.
  • Choose the right battery. Lithium carts often cost more up front but can save on battery replacements and upkeep over time. See our lithium guide.
  • Ask about warranty options. Knowing what’s covered can help you budget. Visit our warranty page.

Financing at all four locations

You can apply online or at any of our showrooms:

  • Mount Holly: Monday through Friday, 9 to 5:30, and Saturday, 10 to 5
  • Charlotte (Wilkinson Blvd): Monday through Saturday, 9 to 5
  • Lake Norman in Denver, NC: Monday through Saturday, 9 to 5 (Lake Norman page)
  • Lake Wylie, SC: Monday through Saturday, 9 to 5 (Lake Wylie page)

Every cart we sell is street ready, and we specialize in street-legal LSVs, so the title and tag steps are part of the process from day one. We’ll explain each line on your paperwork so nothing comes as a surprise.

Frequently asked questions

Will checking my payment hurt my credit score?

No. Our payment tool starts with a soft pull, which doesn’t affect your score. A hard pull only happens if you formally apply.

How much do I need to put down?

Our examples use $1,500 down, OAC. You can put down more or less, and your payment will change to match.

Can I finance a used cart?

Often, yes. Terms for used carts can differ from new ones, and we’ll show you what’s available for the cart you pick.

What’s included in the amount financed?

Typically the cart, accessories, sales tax, title and tag costs for an LSV, and the program fee, minus your down payment and trade-in.
